MAINTech: Explore Careers in Manufacturing and Industrial Technology
MAINTech is a no-cost, hands-on workforce boot camp designed to introduce participants
to manufacturing, industrial maintenance, safety, workplace readiness, and technical
career pathways available through HCC.
What is MAINTech?
MAINTech (Multi-skilled Advanced Industrial Maintenance Training) is a short-term, non-credit training opportunity that combines classroom learning, hands-on exposure, and career exploration. Participants will learn about workplace expectations, safety, problem-solving, basic tools, technical concepts, and local career pathways.

Who is MAINTech For?
MAINTech is designed for:
- Incoming high school juniors and seniors
- Recent graduates

No previous experience is required - MAINTech is designed for anyone ready to build skills and launch a manufacturing career.
Participants may gain exposure to:
- OSHA 10 safety training
- Basic hand tools and measurements
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting
- Workplace professionalism and teamwork
- Intro electrical and industrial maintenance concepts
- Technology and AI in the workplace
- Welding and other technical pathway exposure
- Resume, interview, and career readiness skills
Participant Outcomes
Participants who complete the program may earn:
- OSHA 10 Certification
- HCC MAINTech Certificate of Completion
- Documented competencies covered during the boot camp
- A clearer next step into employment, IMT, Electrical, Welding, CIT, FAME, dual credit, or other HCC workforce pathways
Employer Involvement:
Local employers are invited to engage with MAINTech through employee participation, guest speaking, tours, mock interviews, and future workforce training partnerships.
MAINTech Curriculum: Skills for Success in Manufacturing
Our curriculum covers both technical and soft skills to ensure a well-rounded education. MAINTech’s competency-based program provides a comprehensive introduction to manufacturing with five core learning areas:
- General Hand & Power Tools: Hands-on training with commonly used tools
- Lean Operations: Methods to reduce waste and increase productivity
- Problem Solving: Techniques to address workplace issues efficiently
- Safety & Universal Precaution: Best practices for workplace safety and handling of hazardous materials
- Workplace Principles: Foundational skills like teamwork, communication, accountability, and time management
Additionally, sponsored students complete a minimum of 144 hours of paid on-the-job training over the six weeks, while non-sponsored participants engage in lab-based simulations. For more details on the curriculum, please visit Curriculum Overview Link.
Degree, Diploma, and Certificate Options
Upon completing MAINTech, graduates may receive full-time job offers from their sponsoring employers. Participants are also encouraged to explore educational pathways at HCC, such as the Associate in Applied Science in Industrial Maintenance Technology or our Apprenticeship-Style HCC FAME Program or our new Associate in General Occupational Technical Studies Degree Program.
