In a few months, we hope the worst of COVID-19 is behind us. When that happens, the economy will improve, and employers will start hiring again.
A big question is: Will they be able to find a trained and skilled workforce to fit the many open jobs they'll have? The answer is: Yes, if Kentuckians seek training from one of the 16 colleges of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS). We provide Kentuckians with the education and training required for today's careers. By working with our local employers, we understand their needs and make sure our students are ready to walk out of college and into a career.
Never Underestimate You! That's the mantra behind a new campaign for the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship, an effort to boost education and employability among adults.
The scholarship, which Henderson Community College (HCC) began offering in 2017, offers up to 60 hours of free tuition for anyone who has not yet earned an associate degree. It covers a wide variety of technical programs in health care, manufacturing, business/IT, construction/skilled trades and transportation/logistics. Over 350 courses are currently available.
The Regional VOICE initiative engages, empowers, and includes all people in Vanderburgh, Gibson, Posey, Warrick, and Henderson counties desiring to participate in inspiring conversations. Everyone is invited to share their hopes and dreams they have for their individual communities as well as the five-county region.
