Workforce Solutions offering Mining, Arc Flash and Excel Classes

Henderson Community College Workforce Solutions is offering coal mining classes in April. The 40 hour Initial Underground Mining Training Course will be held on four 10-hour days, April 14-15 and 21-22 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the HCC Herron Center in Union County. The cost is $180, and those interested must register by April 2. Students must be over the age of 18 and able to travel to Madisonville for testing and drug screening. Workforce Solutions will be offering an Intermediate Excel class on April 5th, 2012 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. in room STC302 of the Sullivan Technology Center. Students will be introduced to the next level of training in spreadsheets. The course will guide students in how to use Excel in presentation of data. Students will learn to create and manage databases, formula linking, macros and filtering data.

Workforce Solutions is also offering ARC Flash Safety Training on March 28 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in room 310 of the Sullivan Technology Center on HCC s Henderson campus. This course qualifies as the training needed to comply with certain NFPA and OSHA regulations. The course emphasizes electrical safety, broadly describes various NFPA 70E codes and standards, and provides an overview of arc flash boundaries and required personal protective equipment.
