Henderson Community College, in conjunction with The African American Pastors and Layman s Alliance, present the Witness to Innocence Tour, featuring Death Row Exoneree Kirk Bloodsworth. Mr. Bloodsworth will speak on his experience as being the first person in the United States to be exonerated from death row through DNA testing. In 1984, the honorably discharged former marine was arrested and sentenced to be put to death in Maryland. In 1992, he learned of a new forensic breakthrough called DNA fingerprinting. Tests established Bloodsworth s innocence, and he was released from prison in June 1993. Hear Mr. Bloodsworth story, Monday, February 2, 2015, at 4 pm, in the Stagg Room of the Henderson Fine Arts Center. This convocation is open to the public.
