'The Coffeehouse' event scheduled

The Diversity Learning Community and The Riverbend Review will host The Coffeehouse event on November 20, 2014 at Joe s Place on the main campus of Henderson Community College from 4 to 6 PM. The event is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Open Mic is from 5:30 to 6 PM: Please bring your poetry, stories, or songs to perform.

The guest speakers are artist Gail Bushrod and poet Sherraine Pate Williams.

Gail Bushrod, a native of Evansville, Indiana, received her A. B. in Fine Arts from Indiana University amp; M.S. in Human Services from Murray State University. Currently, Ms. Bushrod is employed by the State of Indiana as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. Her forte is charcoal and pencil with her subject focus, which is African American characters and figure studies.

Sherraine Pate Williams is from Memphis, TN, now living in Muhlenberg County, KY. She is an MFA candidate in poetry at Murray State University s creative writing program amp; currently teaches basic literacy skills to adults full-time for Madisonville Community College s Adult Education Program. Her work is forthcoming in Measure: a Review of Formal Poetry amp; Zymbol: The Magazine of Symbolism and Surrealism.
