HCC is proud to partner with Owensboro Community & Technical College (OCTC) to offer interested students the opportunity to earn a degree in Surgical Technology through a 1+1 agreement. Surgical technologists are vital members of medical teams who work closely with surgeons and other medical professionals in many settings: offices; surgical centers; and hospitals. After finishing prerequisite courses at HCC that include anatomy & physiology and microbiology, students admitted to the OCTC program learn through hands-on experiences in the classroom and on-site at clinical facilities. A minimum grade of “C” is required in all program courses.

Surgical Technology is one of the fastest growing fields in the nation. Our aging population needs surgical services more than ever, and advancing technology allows surgical technologists to assist with more procedures. In Kentucky, surgical technologists earn an average annual salary of $38,087.* Wages vary depending on area of specialty.
