Nursing Students in Critical Care Challenge
Nine nursing students from Henderson Community College participated April 14, 2011 in the Critical Care Challenge held at St. Mary s Medical Center in Evansville. The annual event is a competition of knowledge related to critical care issues. School teams participating were from USI, Ivy Tech, and Uof E. Also participating were various hospital teams. The student teams answer the same questions as the experienced RNs from hospitals.
Students from HCC participating were Doug Hooper, Paige Perry, Billie Silkwood, Crystal Chaney, Brandon Gower, Brandon Wilhite, Jamika Slaton, Melissa Turner, and Krystle Keith. The team was coached by Janet Meyer, nursing faculty.
The results were USI placing first, U of E and Ivy Tech tying for second, and HCC third place. Many HCC students and faculty attended to provide support for the team.
