HCC Student President Named to KCTCS Board of Regents
Henderson Community College (HCC) is pleased to announce the election of Jan M. Hite to serve on the Kentucky Community and Technical College (KCTCS) Board of Regents. John W. Pence of Hazard Community and Technical College (HCTC) was also elected as a student representative. The two were selected by the 16 college student body presidents as KCTCS student body co-presidents and Student Regents. Their terms begin August 11, 2011, and continue through August 10, 2012.
Jan M. Hite is the first student from Henderson Community College to be selected to serve on the Kentucky Community and Technical College Board of Regents. In her position, Hite is able to provide input to the board and holds half a vote on board actions. Jan responded to her election to the board by stating, I am honored to have been selected to serve on the Kentucky Community and Technical College Board of Regents and not to mention the first from Henderson to do so.
Jan M. Hite lives in Henderson, Kentucky, and is currently a sophomore pursuing an
associate s degree in political science from Henderson Community College. She was
elected as the 2011-12 HCC Student Government Association President, serves as the
Phi Theta Kappa President, is a student representative on the college s Quality Enhancement
Plan committee, serves as a Student Ambassador, and is an active member of the History
Club. Jan served in the United States Military as a medic and is a wife and mother
of four children. Jan is excited about the opportunity and said, I look forward to
