HCC CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF NURSING EXCELLENCE
May 8, 2015, will mark the 50th anniversary of the first graduating class of the Associate Degree in Nursing Program at Henderson Community College.
In 1963, HCC was the first college in Kentucky to establish the two-year Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN). Two short years later, 13 students earned an Associate Degree in Nursing from HCC.
At the May 2015 Graduation ceremony, HCC will celebrate the 50th anniversary by honoring its first ADN graduating class with a special collection of guest speakers and graduates from the Nursing program.
In addition to the graduation celebration, Dr. Tammy Owen, Associate Dean Of Academic Affairs/Director of Nursing, invites all to join in a 50th celebration scheduled for Monday, May 11, 2015, at 6 PM in room 310 of the William L. Sullivan Technology Center. At the celebration, memorabilia from the last 50 years will be on display and tours of the nursing department will be provided, highlighting the simulation lab. Graduates in the nursing program consistently score at or above the norm on the national licensure examination.
