HCC Can Certify Your Traffic Flaggers
As of January 15, 2012, the latest version of the U. S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways (MUTCD) became effective and in concert with addendums for certain states (per ILDOT, INDOT, and KYTC), that policy now governs how one conducts work on any roadway and the various requirements affording protection to workers and the motoring public.
One component of the MUTCD and the state requirements sets out when, where, and how traffic flagging is to be conducted within a traffic control zone. Additionally, several states, particularly Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky have requirements that traffic flaggers be certified.
This course is designed to meet the requirements for Flagger Certification through the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA). This ATSA Certification is accepted by Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky, and will allow a flagger so certified to conduct flagging operations in those states (as well as most others).
The Training class will be offered on July 26 from 8 a.m. to noon at the HCC IET building located at 701 Pennel Street in Henderson. The maximum class size is 30, so please register early to secure your spot in the class. Additional classes will be offered as needed. The ost will be $100 per person.
