Call for Proposals for SACS Quality Enhancement Plan
Henderson Community College is beginning the preparation for its reaccreditation by
the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools(SACS). As a part of the process
the college is asking the public for their input in the form of a proposal on how
to improve student learning through a quality enhancement plan QEP. These proposals
should focus on one of four areas: advising, oral communication, written communication
and tutoring. The deadline for accepting a 2-5 page proposal is April 12.
These are four general areas, however, proposals can combine more than one or include topics outside the areas, said Tony Strawn, HCC professor and campus QEP director. The most important factor is the proposals must be focused and directly related to enhancing student learning.
Strawn goes on to explain the importance of a QEP as a part of the college s reaffirmation process. This is an opportunity and an impetus for HCC to enhance overall quality and effectiveness by focusing on specific issues to improve student learning.
