Henderson Community College's student newspaper The Hill earned nearly a dozen awards recently in the 40th annual Kentucky Community and Technical College System Student Newspaper Competition.
More than 100 students in the KCTCS system submitted entries in categories for editorial, news, feature and sports writing, as well as layout, advertising and photography.
The Bridge, the student newspaper for Somerset Community College, was honored as the best overall paper in the 2009 KCTCS competition.
Two other student newspapers also received medals in the best newspaper category. HCC's The Hill received the silver award and Bluegrass Community and Technical College's BCTC Courier received the bronze award.

- Sports story -- Third, "Boot Camp Paying Dividends," B.C. Thomas, The Hill, HCC.
- Sports column -- Third, "Wright Coaching to Give Back to Community," Kyle Greenwell, The Hill, HCC.
