Registrations are being accepted for the Illinois Basin Energy Conference here next month.
The event is intended in part to advance the Henderson area's ambition to be a center for energy research and development. The conference is being sponsored by the Governor's Office of Energy Policy and the fiscal courts of Henderson, Union and Webster counties. Conference topics will include renewable energy, coal gasification, carbon capture and sequestration, work force development and energy efficiency.
Gov. Steve Beshear has been invited to speak, as have local officials and representatives with energy company E.ON U.S., the Illinois Geological Survey, the Indiana Utility and Regulatory Commission and Arizona Public Service Co. The event will include afternoon breakout sessions
The conference takes place 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at the Henderson Fine Arts Center at Henderson Community College.
A pre-conference reception will take place 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Wolf's Banquet and Convention Center.
There is no fee for the conference for those who register by next Thursday, Feb. 28. Afterward, a registration fee of $75 will be charged.
